On Thursday 2 July 2026, the Luxembourg Army held its annual Military Challenge in the Lultzhausen/Insenborn region.

The circuit of approximately seventeen kilometres consisted of seventeen land and water obstacles. The course was completed by teams of four participants, with the distance between obstacles covered on foot.

A total of 152 participants took part in the competition. Among the 38 teams were 27 teams from the Luxembourg Army, as well as teams representing the Grand Ducal Police Special Unit, the Customs and Excise Administration, and military units from Belgium and France.

The various obstacles, which were only revealed to participants immediately before each challenge, were designed to test their versatility, teamwork and ability to adapt. They included a ten-metre-high zipline across the lake, a fifteen-metre caving ladder, a stand-up paddle challenge, changing the wheels of an HMMWV vehicle, transporting an unarmed aerial bomb, and crossing the lake in a motorless Zodiac inflatable boat.

The winners of the 2026 Military Challenge were Team A1 from the Luxembourg Army's Alpha Company. The Army also thanked all participants for their endurance, team spirit and positive attitude throughout the competition.
