On Thursday 2 July 2026, Luxembourg’s Ministry of Culture reported Luxembourg Minister for Culture, Eric Thill, had signed a funding agreement with the Federation of Performing Musicians in Luxembourg (FAMIL), a non-profit association established in 2025 by professional musicians active in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The ministry said that under the agreement, signed on Wednesday 24 June 2026, FAMIL undertakes to develop a range of initiatives aimed at strengthening the music sector. These include representing performing artists with regard to remuneration arising from the secondary exploitation of their performances, promoting fairer professional standards, drawing up indicative fee recommendations, and developing resources and awareness-raising tools for stakeholders across the sector. The association will also help foster dialogue among professionals, encourage the exchange of good practice, and contribute to discussions on improving the status of self-employed musicians in Luxembourg.

"This agreement is intended to support the structuring and professionalisation of the music sector, particularly by strengthening the rights and status of performing artists," said Minister Thill. "It forms part of a broader effort to consolidate working conditions for musicians and to recognise their essential role within the cultural sector. By supporting FAMIL in carrying out its mission, we are helping to strengthen social and professional dialogue within the music sector and to promote fairer and more transparent practices."

According to the ministry, the State's annual financial contribution amounts to €15,000.

As part of its commitment to administrative transparency and structured support for cultural stakeholders, the Ministry of Culture announced that several other funding agreements have also been concluded, or are currently being finalised, during 2026. With the addition of the following non-profit associations, the total number of organisations benefiting from a funding agreement with the Ministry of Culture now stands at 146:

• Compagnie Junctio

• Ensemble vocal Luxembourg

• Info-Handicap

• Laboratory for Queer Studies, Gender and Feminisms (LEQGF)

• Musée de l'Ardoise
