Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture has announced the launch of two calls for applications in favour of artistic creation and literary publishing in the Grand Duchy.

These calls relate to assistance for professional publishing houses for the expansion of the number of fiction and / or non-fiction publications and applications for musical compositions.

The two calls form part of the Ministry of Culture's policy of developing initiatives to encourage Luxembourg creation, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 health crisis.

Assistance for Professional Publishing Houses

In order to promote the revival of Luxembourg editorial activity, hard hit by the pandemic, the Ministry of Culture is launching this call for projects intended for professional Luxembourg publishing houses with regular, quality editorial production, which is accessible to many. This assistance aims to increase the number of fiction and / or non-fiction works published in 2021 and is intended to cover the costs related to the production and distribution of the publications of these publishing houses.

Call for Musical Compositions

As part of its public commissions programme, the Ministry of Culture is launching a call for applications for commissions for musical compositions for nine orchestras or musical ensembles for the 2021/2022 season.

The aid scheme for the writing of new original musical works constitutes one of the main axes of public policy in favour of support for contemporary creation and pursues a threefold objective: to stimulate the creation of a large number of musical projects and thus contribute to the renewal of repertoires; to support the work of composers; to ensure the diversity of the offer by encouraging musical structures (orchestras, musical ensembles, etc.) to programme works by contemporary Luxembourg composers.

The programme gives composers recognition of their work by the state and supports the efforts of creation and distribution structures, which will then present the supported works to the public.

The partners of the projects and performers of the compositions are: Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra (Orchestre philharmonique du Luxembourg - OPL); Solistes européens Luxembourg (SEL); Orchestre de chambre du Luxembourg (OCL); Luxembourg Military Band (Musique militaire grand-ducale); Orchestre national de jazz; Luxembourg Wind Orchestra; United Instruments of Lucilin; Kammerata Luxembourg; Ars Nova Luxembourg.
