On Thursday 11 June 2026, the Grand Ducal Police officially announced the launch of its “Blue Line” telephone support service, designed to handle both requests made by phone and those received digitally.
The “Blue Line” can be reached by dialling 244 244 244 and, according to the police, it is responsible for handling messages sent to contact@police.public.lu, as well as those submitted via the police mobile application and messaging services available on the police’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X).
The police detailed that the “Blue Line” pursues two main objectives. Firstly, it aims to improve the overall service offered to citizens by providing a single point of contact for non-urgent requests and centralising their processing to ensure more consistent handling and rigorous follow-up. Secondly, the new telephone line will help relieve pressure on other police units and services, in particular the National Intervention Centre (CIN) 113, from non-urgent requests.
The line has been in operation since Monday 1 June and can also be reached via a contact form on the police.lu website.
Initially, the “Blue Line” will operate Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 16:00. An extension of operating hours, with a two-shift system (07:00 to 19:00), is planned at a later stage, depending on workload and public demand.
The “Blue Line” is designed to further facilitate contact with the Police and complements existing initiatives such as online procedures via the E-commissariat, increased presence and availability provided by local police patrols, and “Kaffi mat der Police”.
The Grand Ducal Police emphasised that the “Blue Line” is an additional contact line alongside the national emergency number 113 and the numbers of the various police stations. The 113 remains the sole point of contact for emergencies, threatening or dangerous situations, i.e. incidents requiring immediate police intervention on site. The 244 244 244 number is in no way an emergency number and must not be used in emergency situations. In case of doubt, 113 should always be prioritised.
A public information campaign will be launched in the coming days. It includes posters and a video advert and is built around the slogan: “Är Froe sinn eis wichteg. D’Ligne bleue vun der Police.” (“Your questions matter to us. The Police ‘Blue Line’”). It presents four typical scenarios that “Blue Line” staff may handle, including enquiries about attempted fraud, questions relating to the Highway Code, lost keys or other personal belongings, and legal queries. The campaign will be produced in three languages (French, English and Luxembourgish), reflecting the fact that the new service is intended for all residents of the Grand Duchy.
