On Monday 22 June 2026, Luxembourg's national railway company, CFL, has reported major disruptions on the Luxembourg, Esch-sur-Alzette, Rodange and Luxembourg, Thionville, Metz rail lines due to a heat-related technical fault affecting the track at Berchem.

According to CFL, the extreme temperatures have caused technical issues on the railway infrastructure, resulting in a significant reduction in the number of trains operating on both lines. No estimate has been provided for when normal services will resume.

Technical teams are on site working to resolve the issue.

The railway operator also encouraged customers to use the drinking water fountains available at Luxembourg railway station while travelling.
