Details: Utopia SA is organising the 2015-16 season for live broadcast transmissions of the Bolshoi Ballet to screens at Ciné Utopia and Utopolis-Belval.

The Bolshoi Ballet season will be screened for the 6th consecutive year in High Definition. The Bolshoi Ballet is one of the world's leading ballet companies with an immensely rich and varied repertoire: major national classics, masterpieces from around the world and magnificent modern productions. These shows are specially filmed for the big screen and broadcast live via satellite in high definition and 5.1 sound.

PROGRAMME

11 Oct @ 17:00: Giselle (live): 2 hours 20 mins. A doomed love affaire ending in tragedy, a dive into fantasy and ultimate redemption through the power love. The Bolshoï is renowned for intimate and emotionally intense interpretion of this beloved drama.

8 Nov @ 16:00: Jewels (recorded): 2 hours 5 mins. A homage of captivating beauty to the dance schools of Paris, New York and St Petersburg, each represented by a jewel: emerald, ruby and diamond. The Bolshoï is the only company authorized by the Balanchine Trust to film and broadcast his masterpiece.

6 Dec @ 16:00: The Lady of the Camellias (live): 3 hours 5 mins. The Bolshoï breathes new life in Neumaier's tragic masterpiece and accompanied by Chopin's exquisite score. This production assumes a new emotional and dramatic texture that only the Bolshoï's dancers can deliver.

20 Dec @ 16:00: The Nutcracker (recorded): 2 hours 10 mins. This beloved holiday classic will enchant the whole family with its fairytale setting and Tchaikovsky's timeless score. The Bolshoï's version has a unique sense of romance and philosophy, danced by the heroic Denis Rodkin as the prince and the magical Anna Nikulina as Marie.

24 Jan @ 16:00: The Taming of the Shrew (live): 2 hours 5 mins. French Choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot land a coup with his adaptation of Shakespeare's tailored to the Bolshoï dancers, and achieves a magnetic two hours of breath-taking dance. This new production staged exclusively for the Bolshoï cannot be seen anywhere else.

13 Mar @ 16:00: Spartacus (recorded): 2 hours 50 mins. Grigorovich's Spartacus was created at the Bolshoï in 1968 and has since remained the Russian company's signature ballet. This most spectacular production is an epic tour de force, giving full expression to the strenght for which the Bolshoï's male dancers are renowned.

10 Apr @ 17:00: Don Quixote (live from Moscow): 3 hours 5 mins. The Bolshoï's panache and excellence are combined in Fadeyechev's critically acclaimed staging of this exalting performance. Featuring brand new sets and costumes to accompany this colorful and technically challenging production, Don Quixote is quintessential Bolshoï, abounding with life and not to be missed!
