The European University for Economics & Management (eufom) will be undergoing a change of ownership, it was announced last Wednesday.

The eufom University has gained high recognition in the Greater Region for its practical study model since its creation, which has prompted the Chamber de Commerce and the Chamber of Trade to negotiate its ownership.

"Since its founding, the eufom University has been based on close cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and the BCW Foundation," commented Carlo Thelen, Director-General of the Chamber of Commerce. "Professionals and trainees from the Greater Region can take their studies alongside their employment. With the acquisition of ownership, the Chamber of Commerce retains substantive links between the economy and science."

He added: "We intend to further expand and establish a dual study concept from the German university system in the Grand Duchy. It gives us the opportunity to develop new practice-oriented study courses, for example, from the field of engineering. We offer an alternative to the traditional courses offered by the University of Luxembourg - as a supplement and in no way as its competitors. Overall, we therefore increase the attractiveness of Luxembourg's educational centre."

For students who are already enrolled at eufom, nothing will change regarding the current academic operation. The courses will be continued as normal and the Bachelor and Master degrees will be awarded as agreed.

Until the change occurs in ownership, Prof. Dr. Franz Peter, formerly Vice President for Research, will lead the eufom University temporarily as Rector.
