The University of Luxembourg has announced it will host the Scienteens Academy Summer workshop in Computer Science & Space Engineering from Monday 17 to Thursday 20 August 2026 at its campus in Esch-Belval.
According to Uni.lu, the Scienteens Academy focuses on computer science and space engineering and introduces participants to the fundamentals of small satellite development, from system architecture to basic programming and testing.
The four-day interdisciplinary workshops are dedicated to students aged fourteen and over, and will see participants build and assemble a small, functional satellite model using easy-to-handle electronic components similar to those used in real space missions. Working with a LEGO Education SPIKE kit, a Raspberry Pi board and additional commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components, they design their own version of a CubeSat satellite following step-by-step technical guidance.
Throughout the whole week, students will explore how different subsystems work together within a satellite. The programme includes technical demonstrations, guided assembly sessions, testing phases and discussions about real-world satellite missions and space engineering challenges.
The workshop will be taught in English.
