The University of Luxembourg in Esch-Belval has announced that it will welcome around 1,200 new students during its first Welcome Week, taking place from Tuesday 8 to Friday 11 September 2026.
According to the University, the initiative expands on the traditional Welcome Day and is intended to help new students settle into university life. The programme includes meet-and-greet events, workshops and courses on topics such as sustainability, student engagement and the use of artificial intelligence in studying.
During the first three days, activities include welcome breakfasts, sessions titled The Augmented Student: Studying in the Age of AI, Climate Fresk workshops, sustainability lectures and sports activities.
The official Welcome Day will take place on Friday and will include presentations, campus tours and information stands. Rector Jens Kreisel is scheduled to deliver a welcome speech at 10:00, while students will also be able to learn more about campus support and wellbeing, the Career Centre, student life, study programmes, housing, student associations and clubs.
The Welcome Day programme will run from 09:30 to 14:30, with a welcome lunch and food trucks also planned. Full details are available on the University’s Welcome Week website.
