On Wednesday 13 May 2026, the University of Luxembourg (Uni.lu) announced that Jens Kreisel, Rector of the University, has entrusted André Prüm with the role of Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, effective from Monday 1 June 2026.
The appointment follows the resignation of Katalin Ligeti from her position as Dean.
A distinguished full professor of financial and business law, Professor Prüm previously served as Dean of the Faculty from 2005 to 2012.
According to the Uni.lu, Professor Prüm will help to ensure stability and continuity within the Faculty and facilitate its smooth operation. He will also prepare the electoral process for appointing a new dean in autumn 2026 and help to ensure the process remains collegial and constructive.
The Uni.lu stated that this transitional phase will allow the Faculty to approach the period with confidence while supporting a renewal of its governance and preparing for the next stages of its development in the interests of both the Faculty and the University.
The continuity of teaching and research activities will remain fully assured, the Uni.lu added.
