Every year on 17 March, Ireland and the Irish diaspora celebrate St Patrick's Day, a cultural and religious celebration which observes the death of Saint Patrick, the country's most prominent patron saint; celebrations are not limited to Ireland, however, with a host of activities taking place around the world, including in Luxembourg.
Whilst the Embassy of Ireland in Luxembourg will not be holding its traditional in-person reception this year, due to organisational issues linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are still many things to see and do in the Grand Duchy on and around St Patrick's Day 2022.
In fact, this year's celebrations already kicked off on Saturday 12 March, with the first part of the 2022 Zeltik Festival, the only festival in the Greater Region dedicated to Celtic music, at the opderschmelz cultural centre in Dudelange; the second part will take the form of an open-air concert in Dudelange town square on Sunday 19 June 2022.
