Following its official launch at the Luxembourg Sustainability Forum in November 2025, the City of Luxembourg (VdL) and IMS Luxembourg are now accepting applications for the second edition of the "Trees in the City – Business in Action" initiative, which will run from October 2026 to January 2027.

According to IMS Luxembourg, the programme allows organisations located within Luxembourg City to transform their spaces into tangible environmental assets, while contributing to a collective goal of planting 30,000 trees by 2030. This initiative is aligned with the capital's climate and environmental objectives, namely to improve quality of life, restore urban natural heritage and strengthen the region's climate resilience.

During the first edition, eight IMS Luxembourg member organisations planted nearly 150 trees on their properties.

Concretely, the programme entails free provision of trees adapted to the local climate via a catalog of species developed by the VdL. The VdL Parks Department supports and validates the coherence of projects, while responsibility for planting and maintenance rests with the participating organisation.

This commitment goes beyond simply planting; it also involves preparing the planting site and ensuring the trees' long-term survival, noted IMS Luxembourg.

The programme is open to all organisations (businesses, public institutions, associations, schools, etc.) with land within the City of Luxembourg and wishing to actively contribute to urban greening.
