The Grand Ducal Police has reported that a woman suspected of involvement in money laundering following a LuxTrust fraud case was arrested after a victim filed a complaint on Friday 23 October 2026.

According to initial information, the victim visited a police station on Friday afternoon to file a complaint about LuxTrust fraud. During the investigation, police identified a woman suspected of having made her bank account available for laundering money stolen through the fraud scheme.

The Public Prosecutor's Office subsequently ordered a search of the suspect's home. She was then arrested and brought before an investigating judge.

Police noted that making a bank account available for money laundering is punishable by up to five years' imprisonment and a fine of up to €1,250,000.

The money concerned, or its equivalent value, will be confiscated. If the offence constitutes participation in the principal or ancillary activities of an association or organisation (Article 506-5, point 2 of the Criminal Code), it may carry a prison sentence of between fifteen and 20 years.

In this context, police reiterated their warning about phishing scams linked to the transition from Payconiq to WERO.

Police advised anyone who has fallen victim to this or a similar type of fraud to:

  • Block their bank and credit cards by calling Worldline on 491010.

  • Block their LuxTrust agreement by calling 24550-550.

  • Contact their bank to have their WERO account blocked, have their bank account temporarily blocked until the situation has been clarified and request reimbursement for any unauthorised transactions.
