With this week being World Breastfeeding week, the Luxembourg La Leche League and Initiativ Liewensufank, together with the association of pediatric nurses, the Luxembourg Association of Midwives and the Association of Lactation Consultants, is organising an event entitled La Grande Tétée The big latch on Saturday 10 October 2015 from 09:30 - 10:30.
Luxembourg is participating in a global gathering for information on breastfeeding, with the local event happening at the Cultural Centre in Bonnevoie (2 rue des Ardennes, L-1133 Luxembourg).
Apart from information on breastfeeding and breastfeeding counselling, the organisers will offer attendees drinks and cakes. This year’s topic is breastfeeding and work, information on how to combine both will be available!
The event was first organized in 2001 in Canada. In Manila, Philippines, 3,869 babies were breastfed at one site in 2007. In 2014, the event was held in some regions in August and in others in October and attracted 20.000 babies and their mothers at more than 900 places all over the world.
In this 2015 edition, 15,000 women and babies have already been involved and more to get involved next weekend.
