On Saturday 30 May 2026, Luxembourg's athletics team won ten medals, including five golds, at the European Challenger Championships in Monaco, finishing third in the overall standings behind Cyprus and Malta.
According to the Luxembourg Athletics Federation (FLA), athletes from fifteen member states of the Athletics Association of Small States of Europe (AASSE) competed throughout the day at the Stade Louis II in the presence of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco.
Luxembourg's five gold medals came through Vera Bertemes-Hoffmann in the 1500m (4:14.86), Stéphanie Krumlovsky in the shot put (15.38m), where she also set a new national record, Charel Gaspar in the high jump (2.04m), Kimberly Chinfatt in the 5000m (16:39.85) and David Friederich in the 400m hurdles (53.47 seconds).
The team also secured two silver medals, with Till Joly clearing 2.00m in the high jump and David Wallig clocking 10.73 seconds in the 100m.
Three bronze medals were added by David Wallig in the 200m (21.70 seconds), Gil Weicherding in the 5000m (14:35.21) and the men's 100m–200m–300m–400m relay team, which recorded a time of 1:54.73. The relay quartet consisted of Luc Dostert, Alan Jéhanno, David Wallig and Glenn Lassine.
According to the FLA, Luxembourg's ten-medal haul represents one more medal than at the previous edition in Gibraltar in 2024, while the team also won four more titles than two years ago.
The federation added that the results highlighted the depth of Luxembourg athletics despite the absence of many of the country's elite athletes, with young competitors developed through local clubs and the national training centre contributing alongside more experienced team members.
