The Commercial Union of the City of Luxembourg (UCVL), in collaboration with the City of Luxembourg (VdL), has announced details of the "Luxembourg City in Bloom” window display competition, which will take place from Thursday 1 to Saturday 31 May 2025.

The competition will be in partnership with Luxembourg Urban Garden (LUGA Asbl)  exhibition of urban gardens, agricultural projects, as well as  landscape and artistic installations, which will take place from Wednesday 7 May  to Saturday 18 October 2025.

In a statement, VdL announced that as part of the competition, retailers located in the capital are invited to decorate their windows and/or facades with botanical, organic, plant or floral elements to help create a floral and natural atmosphere. A jury will evaluate the participating businesses' decorations according to defined criteria (adherence to the theme, overall aesthetics, originality and creativity, integration of the products sold into the décor and technical execution). Three joint winners will be selected, each of whom will receive a €2,000 grant from the City of Luxembourg. In addition, the public will be able to vote for their favourite window display using a form accessible via a QR code displayed on a sticker distributed to participating businesses. The business with the most votes will receive €2,000. A random draw will also allow one of the voters to win a €200 voucher.

Moreover, as part of the "Luxembourg City in Bloom" competition, the VdL is offering free window design training sessions to the capital's retailers to help them showcase their products and optimise their communication with customers. During these workshops, participants will learn the basics of window display design in order to create a display featuring their shop’s products and complete a window display project.

The Window Design Training will take place on Monday 31 March and Wednesday 2 April 2025 at the Design Hub of the City of Luxembourg (42-44 Rue de Hollerich). The training session on Monday 31 March will be held from 08:30 to 12:00 and on Wednesday 2 April 2025 from 18:00 to 21:30. Registration is required, prior to Friday 28 March 2025, via email: info@cityshopping.lu. There will be a maximum of ten participants per session with registrations processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
