Luxembourg-based artist Sitta will present her new EP “Part Of Me” at opderschmelz in Dudelange on 3 April 2019, from 20:00.
With “Part Of Me”, Sitta is releasing her first solo record this April at the opderschmelz concert hall. Urban Soul with Persian Spice is how she branded her musical style; a blend of bass-rich grooves interlaced with sonic moods of traditional Persian instruments. Sitta's songs will take the audience on an intimate journey through her life, telling stories of love and loss, belief and belonging, independence and identity.
The daughter of an Iranian opera singer and a German actor, vocalist and songwriter Sitta has known and loved the arts since she can remember. First trained in classical singing, Sitta later broadened her four octaves spanning vocal spectrum in the genres of R'n'B, Soul and Jazz at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Zurich. She gathered her first experiences on stage in her early childhood singing backing vocals at her mother's concerts. Other influences were icons such as Maria Callas, Joni Mitchell, Sade, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and the late Aretha Franklin, to name a few.
Her love for travelling and humanity's manifold cultural expressions exposed her to further ethnic styles (African, Brazilian, Indian) not to forget the wealth of her own cultural heritage: Persian music. This also reflects itself in Sitta's performances as guest vocalist with various artists, such as Merge of Equals, Espresso del Lago, Minus 8 or Eduardo Nascimento.
In New York, she sang upper soprano in an international choir at a sold out concert at Carnegie Hall in 2002. The same year she also performed at the Manhattan Concert Hall with a gospel choir directed by Van Gilmer. Now based in Luxembourg, she is an active part of the music scene while continuing her creative collaboration with her artistic connections in LA. More recently, in October 2018, Sitta was selected to be a performing artist at the TEDxUniversityofLuxembourg conference, showcasing her original music.
The songs of this EP “Part Of Me” were conceived at Da Town Studio in Marseille with producer Ulrich “Yul” Edorh and later completed at Sunset Sound Studio in Los Angeles in cooperation with Grammy winning producer, mixer and sound engineer Joe Chiccarelli. Through her very personal songs Sitta tells stories about the search for identity and belonging, of growing up and letting go and of loving without boundaries. Uniting East and West in her DNA, Sitta translates this fusion of cultures and traditions into genre-crossing original music.
