The Health Directorate of Luxembourg's Ministry of Health and Social Security has published its weekly retrospective report on the evolution of the main acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and whooping cough.
During week 47, from Monday 18 to Sunday 24 November 2024, the number of positive SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) cases decreased from 116 to 72, down 38% compared to the previous week.
The latest available sequencing data reveal that the KP.3 variant remained predominant in October 2024.
The number of influenza (flu) cases reported by laboratories has increased, from 29 to 57 cases, up 97% compared to the previous week. During the last four weeks, influenza A represented 72% of reported cases and influenza B represented 28% of cases.
Furthermore, the number of RSV cases also increased, with 65 confirmed cases, compared to 53 the previous week.
There were no recorded cases of whooping cough during week 47, down from six the previous week.
