The number of PCR tests carried out decreased from 4,937 to 4,904 over one week.

Seven people reported a positive rapid antigen test for the reference week, compared to nine the week before, bringing the number of positive results following such tests carried out by a healthcare professional to a total of 3,451. Note that positive rapid antigen tests are not taken into account in the calculation of the positivity rate.

As of Sunday 4 September 2022, the number of active infections decreased to 1,821 from 1,889 the previous week and the number of people having recovered from the illness rose from 283,681 to 284,464. The average age of people diagnosed with COVID-19 was 43.7 years.

In hospitals, there were four new admissions of confirmed COVID-19 patients to normal care (eight one week earlier). There was one COVID-19 patients in intensive care. The average age of hospitalised patients stood at 54 years.

Positivity rate & incidence rate

For the reference period, the effective reproduction rate (RT eff) decreased to 0.87 (1.02 the previous week) and the positivity rate on all tests carried out fell from 15.74% to 14.58%.

The incidence rate decreased to 111 cases per 100,000 residents over seven days, compared to 120 cases per 100,000 residents for the previous week.

Reinfections as well as certified self-tests were included in the calculation of incidence rates, which increased across all age groups over one week except for 0-9 year olds (down 14%), 25-49 year olds (down 10%) and 75-79 year olds (down 34%). The greatest increase was recorded among 85 years and older (up 63%) followed by people aged 75-79 (up 38%). The lowest incidence rate was recorded among people aged 0 to 19 (between 78 and 95 cases per 100,000 residents), while the highest incidence rate was recorded among 35-59 year olds ( between 226 and 240 cases per 100,000 residents).

Transmission

All 1,020 resident cases from the week of 29 August to 4 September 2022 were reviewed and the source determined. During the reference week, traveling abroad was the most frequent source of transmission (36%), followed by family circle (19%) and leisure activities (8%). The share of undetermined sources was 25%.
