On Tuesday 18 May 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 49 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 808 fatalities (no new deaths since Monday) resulting from the virus to date.
49 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 8,725 tests carried out the day before, representing 7.72 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 0.56%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 78.29.
A total of 61 people are in hospital with the virus, including 29 patients in intensive care.
As per figures from Monday 17 May 2021, there are currently 1,812 active infections known, whilst a total of 66,619 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.92.
As of Monday, a total of 291,503 vaccinations had been carried out in Luxembourg (204,869 first doses, 86,634 second doses); 5,287 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 1,300 received their second dose on Monday.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
