The Grand Ducal Police have reported multiple arrests following separate incidents in Luxembourg in the early hours of Saturday 9 November 2024.
During a nighttime patrol in Luxembourg, police officers encountered a person exhibiting suspicious behaviour. When the officers attempted to address the individual, they were immediately threatened with a pocket knife, and the suspect reportedly made verbal threats of murder.
The suspect was promptly taken into custody, and the weapon was confiscated. During a subsequent body search, officers also discovered drugs on the individual. Additionally, the suspect was subjected to an alcohol test, which returned a positive result. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect was arrested and will be brought before the investigating judge on Saturday.
In another early-morning incident on 9 November 2024, officers observed two individuals engaged in an exchange in Luxembourg City. Police surveillance confirmed that the interaction involved the handover of narcotics in exchange for cash.
As the officers intervened to apprehend the two suspects, the alleged seller attempted to flee but was located shortly thereafter hiding in nearby bushes. A significant quantity of drugs and a large sum of cash were found in his possession, the police noted. Both the drugs and cash were confiscated under the authority of the public prosecutor's office.
The buyer was also detained and taken to the police station. Both individuals were subsequently arrested and will appear before the investigating judge on Saturday afternoon.
