The Health Directorate of Luxembourg's Ministry of Health and Social Security has published its weekly retrospective concerning the evolution of the main acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and whooping cough.
COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2: decrease in the number of cases
During week 43, from 21 to 27 October 2024, the number of positive cases for SARS-CoV-2 decreased from 261 to 215 cases, a decrease of 18% compared to the previous week.
However, the viral concentration detected in wastewater showed a slight increase.
The latest available sequencing data reveal that the KP.3 variant remained predominant in September.
Influenza: low number of cases
The number of influenza cases reported by laboratories has stabilized at twelve cases, unchanged from the previous week, while remaining at a low level.
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV): low number of cases
For RSV, a slight decrease was observed, with seven confirmed cases, compared to ten the previous week.
Whooping cough: low number of cases
The number of whooping cough cases has, for its part, recorded a decrease, going from ten cases to five.
