According to Luxembourg's Ministry of Health and Social Security, the number of both flu and COVID-19 cases dropped during week 44, i.e. from Monday 28 October to Sunday 3 November 2024.
The ministry publishes a weekly retrospective report which provides a summary of the evolution of acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, influenza (influenza virus), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and whooping cough.
The latest report highlighted a decrease in the number of cases of COVID-19; the number of flu cases stabilised at a low level; the number of cases of RSV increased slightly and the number of whooping cough cases has decreased.
COVID-19 / SARS-CoV-2
The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 fell from 215 to 101 over one week, representing a decrease of 53%.
The latest available sequencing data reveal that the KP.3 variant remained predominant in September.
Influenza
The number of influenza cases reported by laboratories has stabilised at ten cases, unchanged from the previous week, while remaining at a low level. Over the past four weeks, there have been 47% influenza A and 53% influenza B among the typed results.
Respiratory syncytial virus
The number of cases of RSV reported by laboratories increased slightly from seven to eighteen over one week.
Whooping cough
The number of whooping cough cases has, for its part, recorded a decrease, going from five cases to four.
