The Pickleball Commission of the Luxembourg Tennis Federation (FLT) has announced the selection of the Luxembourg national team for the first European Pickleball Championships to be held from Thursday 21 to Sunday 24 November 2024 in Southampton, United Kingdom. 

The tournament, organised by the European Pickleball Federation, will see national teams from 24 participating countries, including Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Poland and the Netherlands competing in men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November. 

Interested players will be able to take part in a "pre-tournament" competition in the "Open" format in various categories on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 November, prior to the main competition commencing.

The athletes representing Luxembourg at the European Pickleball Championship are:

- Women's 19+: Anne Schumacher (team captain) and Nicole Sibenaler (flag bearer at the opening ceremony)
- Men's 19+: Ervin Gjata and Francois-Xavier Fontaine 
- Women's 50+: Cristina Martello and Amy Heck 
- Men's 50+: Pascal Gilles and Ben Welter 

Benoit Quisquater, Chairman of the Pickleball Committee, commented: "I'm delighted to be able to align a team at this historic event, just two years after the sport was introduced to Luxembourg. The level of competition promises to be very high, and our players have been training hard over the last few months to show their best in Southampton."
