The American Women's Club of Luxembourg (AWCL) has announced it will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting and Commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States on Saturday 4 July 2026, at Brasserie Alfa in Luxembourg-Gare.
The AWCL said the meeting will provide an opportunity for members to reflect on the achievements and challenges of recent years, recognise departing Board Members for their dedication and service, and welcome new Board Members as the organisation enters its next chapter.
The event will feature a keynote address by Vicki Hansen, President of the Schengen Peace Foundation, a Luxembourg-based nonprofit organisation dedicated to global peacebuilding through its two flagship initiatives: the World Peace Forum and the Luxembourg Peace Prize.
The AWCL highlighted that under Vicki Hansen’s leadership, the Luxembourg Peace Prize has expanded from five to thirteen categories and has recognised more than 100 Laureates from around the world. The World Peace Forum has also broadened its international reach, expanding from Europe, the Middle East and the Americas to Africa and Asia.
The association added that with a background in project management, policy advocacy and international collaboration, Vicki Hansen brings decades of leadership experience and volunteer service in politics, peacebuilding and civic engagement.
Held on the symbolic date of 4 July, the meeting will conclude with a commemorative toast honouring the 250th anniversary of the United States, followed by a brunch gathering for members and guests.
The meeting will begin at 10:00, followed by brunch at approximately 11:00.
