On Tuesday 2 June 2026, SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde (SOSVEM) reported that Belair-Diderich Primary School in Luxembourg had recently donated €2,175 raised through its 2026 Pyjama Day initiative to support an education project in Morocco.

According to SOSVEM, the school organised the fundraising campaign in March as a gesture of solidarity with children supported by the organisation, particularly those who face barriers to accessing education. The initiative was inspired by Australia's National Pyjama Day, which raises awareness of children living in foster care and collects funds to support them.

For the second consecutive year, Cycle 1 pupils were invited to attend school in their pyjamas, while parents were encouraged to contribute through a GivenGain fundraising campaign. Between 5 and 20 March 2026, around fifty donations from parents and members of the teaching staff helped raise a total of €2,175. The 2025 edition of the initiative collected €1,673.

On Monday 18 May 2026, SOSVEM Director Sophie Glesener and Communications and Fundraising Officer Lisa Forrler attended a cheque presentation ceremony at Belair-Diderich Primary School.

They were welcomed by Lisa Rockenbrod, Coordinator of Cycle 1, Danielle Hansen, the teacher responsible for Pyjama Day 2026, and the school's Cycle 1 pupils. During the school break, the children gathered in the playground with their teachers for the presentation of the donation cheque.

SOSVEM representatives thanked the school community and parents for their support. According to the organisation, the funds raised will support an education project in Aït Ourir, Morocco.

The project, currently under construction and being equipped, includes a co-educational secondary school for 500 students and a boarding facility for fifty girls. SOSVEM noted that the new infrastructure is expected to enable pupils in the region, which was affected by the 2023 earthquake, to return to school under improved learning conditions at the start of the next academic year.
