Last week, from 3 to 7 October 2022, the Luxembourg Blockchain Lab hosted its first in-person edition of the Luxembourg Blockchain Week at the National Sports and Culture Centre - d'Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

The event, which centred around eighteen main topics, brought together over 350 attendees from around the world and more than 90 speakers, including two government ministers. 50% of the event speakers were C-level executives and more than 27% were women.

The main topics were: the metaverse; non-fungible tokens (NFTs); verifiable credentials; digital identity; Web3; digital assets; healthcare; art and culture; regulations; decentralised finance; sustainability and social impact; cryptocurrency; decarbonisation; supply chain; ecosystem; distributed ledger technology (DLT); tokenisation; anti-money laundering. The discussions allowed for a deep dive in some of the industries where blockchain can lead to efficiency gains and new opportunities.

The second edition of the Luxembourg Blockchain Week (and the first in-person edition) featured a uniquely designed programme of concrete blockchain application presentations, keynotes, interactive discussions, crash courses, workshops and pitches.

The event was completed by ten side events organised by sponsors and partners ABBL, Allen & Overy, EBSILUX project, Elvinger Hoss Prussen and Société Générale, along with the Luxembourg Blockchain Lab's five founding members, Infrachain, Lëtzblock, the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT), the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT).

Luxembourg's Prime Minister and Minister for Digitalisation, Xavier Bettel, opened the afternoon session of the sixth edition of the Infrachain Summit with a keynote on the digital transformation of Luxembourg. Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, Franz Fayot, also shared his support for disruptive technology and the will for an active blockchain ecosystem with an opening keynote at the Luxembourg Blockchain Week.

The conference was also the stage of the Luxembourg Blockchain Lab and the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Institute's announcement of a joint call for project targeting specific sustainable development goals with the aim of achieving viable solutions that can be deployed on a large scale as part of the national effort in sustainable finance.
