On Thursday 12 February 2026, Luxinnovation, the Grand Duchy's national innovation agency, announced that Luxembourg companies can now receive up to 80% co-financing through its Fit 4 Sustainability programme, to support them in reducing their environmental footprint.
Launched in September 2022, the Fit 4 Sustainability programme, managed by Luxinnovation, helps Luxembourg companies assess and reduce their environmental footprint (the measurement of the impact of a company’s activities on the environment, in particular in terms of energy consumption, CO₂ emissions and waste management). The programme enables companies to benefit from the expertise of an external consultant approved by Luxinnovation, specialised in corporate environmental assessment, to carry out a comprehensive environmental study of their activities. It provides tailored recommendations and financial support for the implementation of sustainable practices.
Luxinnovation highlighted that the financial support granted to companies has been increased, with the ceiling for co-financing granted by the Ministry of the Economy under the Fit 4 Sustainability programme raised by 10% for all categories of companies:
• Small companies: up to 80% co-financing (previously 70%);
• Medium-sized companies: up to 60% (previously 50%);
• Large companies: up to 50% (previously 40%).
This co-financing covers the fees and ancillary costs (travel) of the consultant approved by Luxinnovation, responsible for the environmental study.
“This increase in funding rates represents a strong signal of Luxembourg’s commitment to the environmental transition,” said Emmanuelle Kipper, Senior Advisor – Assessments & Roadmaps at Luxinnovation. “We strongly encourage all companies, regardless of their size, to seize this opportunity to assess their environmental impact and implement concrete actions. Sustainability and competitiveness are inextricably linked: reducing your environmental footprint also means reducing costs and strengthening your competitive position on the market.”
Luxinnovation supports companies throughout the implementation process of the Fit 4 Sustainability programme in order to:
• check their eligibility;
• guide them in the choice of expert;
• support them with the administrative procedures for the grant application;
• identify public aid that can subsequently help them implement the consultant’s recommendations.
The new law of 8 December 2025 provides mechanisms for financing environmental investments, for example in decarbonisation, energy efficiency or renewable energy production.
Since its launch, the programme has generated growing interest. Around 70 companies have already completed it or are currently taking part. Energy efficiency assessments and carbon footprint analyses are the most frequent requests, particularly in the current context of the energy transition.
