'Sunset Song', a film made by Luxembourgish production company Iris Productions, has been selected for the San Sebastian Film Festival this September.
The film's director, Terence Davies, has previously worked on such films as 'The House of Mirth' (2000), 'Of Time and the City' (2008) and 'The Deep Blue Sea' (2011), and 'Sunset Song's' main roles were played by Agyness Deyn and Peter Mullan.
The film is set in the early 20th Century and depicts the life of an extraordinary woman, Chris Guthrie, on the eve of WWI. 'Sunset Song' accompanies her through her passions and struggles from adolescence to motherhood to premature widowhood, set against a backdrop of an unforgiving Scottish landscape ill-prepared for the impending challenges of industrialisation.
The film represents a co-production between Iris Productions, Hurricane Films and SellOutPictures and received the support of Film Fund Luxembourg, the British Film Institute, Creative Scotland and BBC Scotland.
The San Sebastian Film Festival will take place from 18 to 26 September 2015 in Basque Country.
