On Tuesday 2 June 2026, Film Fund Luxembourg announced that several Luxembourg productions and co-productions had been selected for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026, which will take place from Sunday 21 to Saturday 27 June 2026 in Annecy, France.
According to Film Fund Luxembourg, productions and co-productions from the Grand Duchy will be represented across the festival's official competition, immersive competition, special screenings and industry programme.
The official competition includes The Sunrise File (Le Dossier de l'aube), directed by Rupert Wyatt and Emilie Phuong. The geopolitical thriller is a co-production between France and Luxembourg (Melusine Productions) and follows a Mossad agent investigating the fate of former Nazi criminals, taking viewers from the end of the Second World War to the trial of Klaus Barbie through Paris, Berlin, La Paz and Tel Aviv.
Two Luxembourg-linked projects have been selected for the immersive competition.
A Long Goodbye, directed by Kate Voet and Victor Maes, is a co-production between Luxembourg (Tarantula Luxembourg), Belgium and the Netherlands. The interactive animated virtual reality experience follows Ida, a 72-year-old pianist living with dementia and explores the gradual farewell of two people who have shared a lifetime together.
The Dollhouse, directed by Charlotte Bruneau and Dominic Desjardins, is a Luxembourg production by Wild Fang Films and Poulpe Bleu Production, in collaboration with Canada. Through an interactive virtual reality experience, the story follows a young girl confronting feelings of guilt and questions of power, responsibility and empathy within her family.
Outside the official competition, Luxembourg will also be represented in the non-competitive Annecy Presents section:
Dudley & the Invasion of the Space Slugs, directed by Cherifa Bakhti: Luxembourg production (Fabrique d'Images), with Belgium and France.
Julián, directed by Louise Bagnall: co-production between Luxembourg (Melusine Productions), Ireland, Canada and Denmark.
New York, Miriam et moi, directed by Léahn Vivier-Chapas and Rémy Schaepman, a co-production between Luxembourg (Melusine Productions) and France, will be presented as a special event screening at Pathé. The film is also competing for the Audience Award.
The festival's Work in Progress programme, which showcases projects currently in production, will feature two Luxembourg co-productions:
Le loup, directed by Benjamin Massoubre and Fursy Teyssier: co-production between Luxembourg (Bidibul Productions) and France.
Séraphine, directed by Sarah Van den Boom: co-production between Luxembourg (Doghouse Films), France and Switzerland.
In addition, the experimental short film XYZ by Luxembourg-based Portuguese director Alexandre Alagôa has been selected for the festival's official Off-Limits section.
Luxembourg will also have a presence at MIFA, the animation industry market accompanying the Annecy festival. Several Luxembourg animation studios, companies and professionals are expected to attend.
Film Fund Luxembourg will organise an "Animated Luxembourg - Coming Next" presentation showcasing upcoming projects from Luxembourg studios. Luxembourg animation students will also be represented through a dedicated Film Fund stand and recruitment meetings with national studios.
