Police Continue to Receive Reports of Bogus Delivery Drivers

On Wednesday 9 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that they have continued to receive reports of thefts involving fake parcel couriers.

According to the police, on Monday 7 September, an unknown man rang the doorbell of a woman in Beetebuergerstrooss in Hellingen and claimed that he wanted to deliver a parcel to her. For the delivery, he demanded payment of a small amount by bank card. After the woman used her card on a card reader he was carrying and entered her PIN, the perpetrator secretly exchanged the bank card for another one. The victim noticed the exchange a short time later and had her card blocked immediately.

On Tuesday 8 September, the police were informed of a similar case on Boulevard Charles Simonis in Luxembourg-Cents. There, too, an unknown man posed as a parcel courier and demanded payment of a small amount by bank card for the delivery of a parcel. During the payment process, he exchanged the victim's card for a foreign bank card. The exchange was only noticed later.

In both cases, the parcels contained various products from the pharmacy and personal care sectors that had not been ordered by the victims.

The police said this method corresponds to the scam that the police have warned about several times in the past. Fake parcel couriers demand payment of a small amount by bank card for the delivery of a parcel and then use the situation to secretly exchange the card.

Anyone who has fallen victim to such a scam is urged to contact their local police station immediately.

The police have urged members of the public never to let one's bank card out of one's sight, to stop the transaction immediately if one has any doubts, and especially to inform and raise awareness among elderly people about this scam.
