The National Cultural Fund of Luxembourg (FOCUNA), in partnership with the Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre and the Cultural Mission of Luxembourg in France, has launched a call for candidates for a two-month research and creative residency in Paris.

Young artists or writers benefitting from the residency will receive accommodation at the Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre, the house for Belgian and Luxembourg students at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, as well as a 4,400€ scholarship. This programme aims to encourage young creatives to get involved in a participatory project offering interaction between the artistic world and the academic community.

Eligible candidates must be under forty years of age, with Luxembourg nationality or residence. The two-month project must be based on exchange with the academic community to enable closer ties between the academic and scientific process with a view to breaking down barriers between disciplines.

The residency will be from 1 September to 31 October 2016, without a break period. The artist or writer will receive accommodation equipped with a bed and bathroom and a shared upstairs kitchen, with bed and bath material to be provided by the artist. They will also be able to benefit from other equipment at the Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre, namely a party room; bar; music room with piano; home cinema; gallery; photo studio; and visual art studio.

A jury will award the scholarship based on the innovative and creative elements of the project, the requirement and originality of the artistic process, and consistency between the intentions of the artist and the project itself. The jury will be made up of Valério D'Alimonte, Luxembourg for Tourism; Danielle Igniti, Art Galleries of the City of Dudelange and opderschmelz; and Valérie Quilez, Cultural Mission of Luxembourg in France.

Applications are open until Monday 29 February 2016 at midnight. For further information on the documents required in the application and the programme itself, click here.
