On Thursday 29 September 2016, the award ceremony of the Fit Food Challenge 2016 contest was held at Haff Ditgesbaach in Ettelbruck following seven weeks of competition; a total of ten awards were presented to the winners, including 3 prizes for the overall winners and 7 weekly prizes offered by contest partners.
The Cactus Fit Food Challenge 2016 edition was a great success. While the first edition of Fit Food Challenge in 2015 consisted of a call for projects on the theme of healthy eating, this year Cactus initiated an interactive public and digital contest.
Operated exclusively via a mobile app, the competition, which lasted from 18 July to 11 September, encouraged participants to move, to learn about healthy products and to discover Luxembourg. No less than 2,648 participants attempted to win the first prize, a year of free shopping at Cactus, by accumulating the most points throughout the competition by walking, receiving badges, answering questions on partner products and by visiting the "viewpoints" through Luxembourg. Those who failed to be ranked in the top three are not necessarily leaving without anything. A prize worth €1,500, offered by one of the seven partners of the competition (Rosport, Tropicana, Bonduelle, Minute Maid, Chiquita, Luxlait and Balade), waits the most committed player every week.
After the contest, a total of 2,648 participants traveled 310,000 km, or eight times the circumference of the earth. In total 1,317 missions were conducted and 91 people completed all seven missions, which were to visit "points of view" spread in all corners of the country. The statistics speak for themselves and demonstrate the enthusiasm that the contest generated.
