Husky Injection Molding Systems SA Luxembourg has donated €15,000 to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde for a resilience project in Madagascar's Great South.
Husky and SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde recently celebrated fifteen years of partnership. This year, Husky's support focused on a project to strengthen the resilience of populations in Madagascar, a country particularly threatened by climate change. In the Great South region, children and their relatives are facing the full brunt of persistent drought and extreme food insecurity.
Husky officials recently invited Sophie Glesener and Anne Schweizer from SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde to a cheque presentation, during which they had the opportunity to present to their partners a film made during Ms Glesener's recent field visit and to discuss current challenges facing Madagascar. During this encounter, the partners reiterated their "mutual commitment in favour of vulnerable children and recalled the need to give them what they need, starting with a dignified living environment with people they trust, to build themselves and move forward in a world that has become very uncertain and unstable".
Since 2021, SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde has been involved in this southern region of Madagascar, now in a project focused on strengthening resilience, especially that of women and children. The project is deployed in the Androy region where more than 90% of households are living below the poverty line. It emphasises education, livelihoods, access to water and the fight against desertification. About 1,550 children and adults are affected.
