The LCGB trade union came forward Tuesday to express its dismay at recent statements which have questioned wage levels in the hospital and care, assistance and social sectors as being too high.
The LCGB stated that it "vehemently rejects any reproach" faced by employees in these sectors, who it claimed have come under attack as the perceived root causes of the economic difficulties in these institutions, which it cited instead as the result of limited fiscal measures from the government and poor management decisions.
The LCGB requested that the terms of collective work agreements enforced be respected, particularly regarding Article 28 defining the implementation of the wage agreement for the public service of the agreement sector. The trade union further highlighted that the government's signed agreement with the trade unions of 28 November 2014 provides for public sector careers to be transcribed into FHL and SAS collective agreements.
The trade union concluded by stating that maintaining good quality of services and individual management of the beneficiaries necessitated that care sector employees be respected, valued and paid according to the agreements.
