Government cabinet has decided that Luxembourg will participate in the special observation mission to the Ukraine regarding their Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

The Government has confirmed the contribution of one or more Luxembourgish participants in the special mission of OSCE Observation to be conducted in the Ukraine.

Alongside its ongoing commitment to the military dimension, in the various international organizations such as NATO, the EU or the UN, Luxembourg has also long contributed significantly to civilian missions. This participation in the special observation mission of the OSCE to be conducted in the Ukraine represents a significant contribution to a civilian mission by an organization other than the European Union.

Such actions help diversify the Luxembourg contributions by deploying a participant recruited by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. It also helps to reduce the burden traditionally worn by a body such as the police which are mainly engaged in internal security.
