Terra Vital has informed Luxembourg food safety authorities that it is recalling its “Sesam La Creme” products after salmonella contamination was detected.
The product has been removed from sale by the distributors, and consumers who have already bought the product are asked to return it to the place from which they bought it.
Meanwhile, Luxembourg's food safety authorities have been informed via the European Commission's early warning system that the 320g sesame cream product is contaminated with salmonella.
Food-borne illness caused by salmonellae results in gastrointestinal disorders often accompanied by fever within 48 hours of consumption of the contaminated products. These symptoms can be aggravated in young children, immunocompromised persons and the elderly.
