On Monday 14 July 2025, Luxembourg's Minister for Digitalisation and Minister for Research and Higher Education released a selection of official images taken at the Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan, in advance of the visit by Prince Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, and Luxembourg's Minister for Digitalisation and Minister for Research and Higher Education, Stéphanie Obertin.
The pictures include views of the pavilions from Luxembourg, Thailand, Azerbaijan, South Korea, Turkey, Germany and Mozambique, as well as the Expo’s Grand Ring and its “Skywalk”, a wooden structure which serves as a main route for visitors, offering panoramic views of the Expo site and surrounding areas.
This year Luxembourg is marking its 25th participation in a World Expo with a pavilion designed by the Luxembourg-based firm STDM around the concept of "Doki Doki - The Luxembourg Heartbeat". This Japanese expression describing the sound the heart makes when it beats is used to express enthusiasm and excitement, as well as energy and passion.
Inside, the pavilion is designed to present Luxembourg as a “laboratory of ideas”, where visitors are invited to learn about the measures taken by Luxembourg to contribute to a better world, the country’s diverse environments and the concept of "Welcome to our home", which reflects the open-mindedness of Luxembourgers.
For a truly immersive experience, visitors can enjoy the “A Day in Luxembourg” installation, which displays life-size images of the landscapes and sights of the country across the walls, floor and ceiling of the pavilion.
As part of the visit to Japan, on Monday 14 July, Minister Obertin, accompanied by a delegation composed of representatives from the public and research sectors, began a mission to Tokyo which will include a meeting with Japanese Minister of State, Atsushi Nonaka, and meetings with key representatives from Japanese sectors on topics related to artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, data exploitation and bilateral scientific cooperation.
Expo 2025 brings together representatives from over 150 countries around the world to showcase innovative solutions to global challenges.
