The Luxembourg Chronicle, as Media Partner, in association with Utopia S.A., is offering 5 pairs of FREE tickets to the Ciné Breakfast that is taking place on Sunday 13 March 2016 at Ciné Utopia in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg. Please see below on how to enter.
The Ciné Breakfast offer comprises five films that are being screened simultaneously at 11:00, with the cinema open from 10:30 for breakfast. Tickets cost €10.80 (reduced price €9.30; U12s €5.70). The five films include:
- Robinson Crusoe (animated adventure, 86 mins, in German). Directed by Ben Stassen and starring (voices of) Matthias Schweighöfer, Dieter Hallervorden and Aylin Tezel. On a tiny exotic island, Tuesday, an outgoing parrot lives with his quirky animal friends in paradise. However, Tuesday can't stop dreaming about discovering the world. After a violent storm, Tuesday and his friends wake up to find a strange creature on the beach: Robinson Crusoe. Tuesday immediately views Crusoe as his ticket off the island to explore new lands. Likewise, Crusoe soon realizes that the key to surviving on the island is through the help of Tuesday and the other animals. It isn't always easy at first, as the animals don't speak "human." Slowly but surely, they all start living together in harmony, until one day, when their comfortable life is overturned by two savage cats, who wish to take control of the island. A battle ensues between the cats and the group of friends but Crusoe and the animals soon discover the true power of friendship up against all odds (even savage cats).
- Medecin de Campagne / Irreplaceable (drama, 102 mins, in French). Directed by Thomas Lilti and starring François Cluzet, Marianne Denicourt and Christophe Odent.
- Eldorado (documentary, 85 mins, 6+, in Luxembourgish). Directed by Thierry Besseling, Rui Eduardo Abreu and Loïc Tanson. Luxembourg is a small country in the heart of Europe, composed of 46% of foreigners, the majority being of Portuguese descent: Fernando, a middle-aged man, arrives in a new country to escape the financial crisis in Portugal, while the ex-con Carlos, who is on the eve of fatherhood, battles with chronic unemployment. Jonathan, an adolescent with schooling difficulties struggles to find his place in life, whereas Isabel has fled a violent past and tries to start over. The hopes and disillusions of four Lusophone immigrants collide over a period of three years in a chimeric land of plenty called Luxembourg.
- A Bigger Splash (drama, 124 mins, in English). Directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Matthias Schoenaerts, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson. Having lost her voice, Marianne is now recuperating with her younger lover Paul, a filmmaker and ex-alcoholic, on the volcanic island of Pantelleria. The couple's idyll is interrupted by the sudden visit of Harry Hawks, a manic music producer and Marianne's ex, who has brought along his petulant daughter Penelope, with whom he's only recently reunited. It's not long before erotic tensions start simmering among the quartet and what was supposed to be a perfect romantic getaway suddenly turns into a whirlwind of jealousy, passion and danger.
- Triple 9 (thriller, 116 mins, in English). Directed by John Hillcoat and starring Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot and Norman Reedus. A crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist. The only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for "officer down". Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.
