Details: Luxembourg may not be participating in the official Eurovision Song Contest but we have the next best thing with the popular Eurovision Gala Night; organisers are now searching for candidates to sing on the big Chapito stage at Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains - could it be you?
Auditions on 24 & 25 May 2014
The great thing about Luxembourg is its cultural diversity and Eurovision Gala organisers, OGAE, are now looking for candidates to sign up and take part in auditions and sing for their country of origin, a country they maybe associated to, or even a country they just like!
Anyone with singing talent can audition to take part for a chance to sing in front of a very large audience and on a big stage. All candidates have to do is sign up with a few details at the website www.galanight.net. Auditions will be held on 24 and 25 May and those taking part will be able to select any song from the vast repertoire of Eurovision songs. 12 candidates in total are sought to take part in a fun and entertaining event in true Eurovision style on 25 October.
There are no rules on who can apply to take part, except that all candidates must be at least 18. The auditions will be held in a closed location in front of a jury of experts, have you got what it takes?
For six editions of Eurovision Gala Night, the size and popularity has grown immensely. The event has been held in Roeser’s Salle de Fête for many years as well as Grand Thêatre in Luxembourg City. Now for the seventh edition, the Gala is just too large and the need to find a new location was apparent. For the first time in 2014 organisers of the Eurovision Gala Night will hold the event in the big Chapito hall of Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains on 25 October.
Just as previous years the event will support a charity, this year supporting Luxembourg Red Cross.
OGAE (Organisation Générale des Amateurs de l'Eurovision) is a non-profit organisation gathering fans of Eurovision from around the globe. The Luxembourg branch of about 80 members has been in existence for some time and have been campaigning for the Grand Duchy to return to Eurovision since it left in 1993. In the meantime OGAE Luxembourg has been organising the Eurovision Gala Night with increasing success and popularity year-on-year. See www.ogaeinternational.com for further information.
