Sightseeing.lu has announced the upcoming opening of a sound art installation by Scottish artist and winner of the Turner Prize in 2010, Suzan Philipsz, at Luxembourg’s Aquatunnel on Thursday 8 May 2025.

Featuring as part of the Luxembourg Urban Garden (LUGA) programme and presented in collaboration with the Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean (MUDAM), the installation, entitled “The Lower World”, will open its doors to the public from Thursday 8 May to Saturday 18 October 2025 during the hours of 10:00 until 18:00.

Sightseeing.lu has described the attraction as “an immersive art experience”, featuring “a unique fusion of sound, architecture and nature” and “blending sonic depth with raw urban space”

The 900m Aquatunnel connects the Pétrusse Valley to the Pfaffenthal district, passing under the Upper Town. Originally built to collect sewage, it has been redeveloped for civil protection purposes.

Staff will guide groups through the tunnel every 30 minutes, with access to the installation available from two points in Luxembourg City:

  • Entry A: Vallée de la Pétrusse – with departures on the hour;
  • Entry B: Paffenthal – with departures on the half hour.

Tickets cost €12 for adults, €6 for children, €8 for students and €10 for seniors. Further information is available at www.sightseeing.lu.
