Details: Similar to "Bend it Like Beckham" and "Billy Elliot", the new British film "Believe" is to be screened in the Young Programme at the forthcoming Discovery Zone Luxembourg city film festival.
Synopsis: The extraordinarily talented eleven-year-old Georgie from Manchester plays a passionate game of football, and would love to sign up his team for a junior tournament in the city. Unable to pay the high entry fee, he promptly sets about stealing the money. The old man that catches him red-handed just happens to be Sir Matt Busby, the legendary manager of Manchester United. Sir Matt tracks him down, only to discover that the boy is an extraordinarily gifted footballer and captain of a team of unruly talents. Sir Matt comes out of retirement and soon begins training Georgie’s team, a young group of scallywags into a dream team to compete for the upcoming Manchester Junior Football League Cup.
Set in 1984 and inspired by true events, the film is a funny and touching fictional tale about the legendary Manchester United football manager Sir Matt Busby. Having lived with football all his life and survived the tragic 1958 Munich plane disaster, in which eight of his young players were killed, Sir Matt is still committed to continuing his work of training lads for life.
The film is being screened in English and has been selected especially with the English speaking community and schools in Luxembourg, in mind.
