The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) has reported that an exhibition on "Stereotypes in texts and images" (Les stéréotypes en textes et en images) is on display in Place de Strasbourg in Luxembourg-Gare.

This exhibition is the third and final part of an awareness campaign, launched in May 2024, on the phenomena of discrimination and stereotyping. The first part of the campaign answered the question "Stereotypes, how do they work?". The second part aimed to highlight the multiplicity of situations of discrimination experienced through 40 images accompanied by a short message.

The last part of the awareness campaign has been on display in the playground in Place de Strasbourg since the start of August 2024. It highlights testimonies from Luxembourg residents, most of whom come from countries outside the European Union. They explain, using real-life situations, that highlighting diversity in all its forms is a value, an asset, but also a challenge to be met.

The VdL added that the exhibition, made up of seventeen "text and image” panels, is also in line with the law of 23 August 2023 on intercultural living together. It promotes "mutual respect, tolerance, solidarity, social cohesion and the fight against racism and all forms of discrimination". It also illustrates and explains how this "participatory, dynamic and continuous process is experienced, which allows anyone living or working in Luxembourg to live, work and decide together".

"Stereotypes in texts and images" has been designed by Luxembourg multi-LEARN Institute Asbl as part of the "Sustainable Stereotypes of Luxembourg" project. The project is supported by Luxembourg's Ministry of Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees (AMIF fund) and is co-funded by the European Union.

The exhibition will remain in place until the end of September 2024. Entry is free of charge.
