Luxembourg-based international professional women's association The NETWORK held an event dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) on Wednesday 23 October 2024.

The "AI Adventure: Women's Perspective" event took place in PwC’s GenAI Business Center in Luxembourg-Gasperich on Wednesday evening.

About 50 participants came together to learn about AI from women experts leading the way in this field. The NETWORK's President Mariana Florea opened the event by introducing the board and team members and by highlighting the relevance of all things AI. This was followed by short presentations by Coralie Michel, GenAI Business Center's Driver at PwC Luxembourg, and Dr Emilia Tantar, Chief Data and AI Officer at Black Swan LUX.

Coralie Michel briefly presented the GenAI Business Center, which was launched by PwC Luxembourg and Microsoft earlier this year. Located within the PwC Experience Center, the GenAI Business Center has hosted seventeen client sessions bringing together more than 300 participants from 100+ organisations across six industries since its inception. Coralie also provided an overview of what generative AI is and how it has evolved.

Dr Emilia Tantar looked at AI from a European perspective, offering a snapshot of the EU AI Act, which came into force in August 2024. She spoke about ethical principles, regulation and societal impact, also touching on the difference between standards (voluntary, but useful) and legislation (mandatory).

Split into three groups, attendees then had the opportunity to take part in three interactive workshops: one led by Coralie Michel and dedicated to prompt engineering (part presentation, part game for participants to try out); one led by Christelle Souaileh, Partner Technology Strategist (AI and Copilot) at Microsoft, dedicated to the Microsoft Copilot AI assistant and the future role of AI in the world of work; another led by Dr Salijona Dyrmishi, AI researcher at the University of Luxembourg, which included a live demonstration of a platform that tests the reliability of AI applications.

The engaging event concluded with networking over finger food and drinks.
