Luxembourgish sprinter Julie Meynen set new national records at the International Swimming League (ISL) 2020 over the weekend in Budapest, Hungary.

At the start of the third preliminary round match at the ISL on Saturday, Julie Meynen set a new national record for the 100m freestyle on the short course. As a starting swimmer in the 4x100m freestyle, the 23-year-old handed over to her teammate Claire Fisch after 53.39 seconds and improved her own record from the 2015 European Championships by six hundredths. The second Toronto Titans team finished sixth in 03:34.42.

On the second day, Julie Meynen improved her national record in the 50m freestyle. In 24.76, the Luxembourger stayed a tenth below her best time from the 2015 Winter Championship and finished eighth. Over twice the distance, she swam to seventh place in 53.60 seconds. At the end of the competition day, she led the Toronto Titans as the final swimmer of the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay in second place and collected important points for the overall standings. LA Current team (535.5 pts) won the third preliminary round match, ahead of the Tokyo Frog Kings (506.5), the Toronto Titans (401) and the Aqua Centurions (260).

From 16 October to 21 November, the ISL 2020 is taking place in the Duna Arena in Budapest. Around 300 of the world's best swimmers are competing against each other on the short course in ten different teams. Luxembourg's best sprinter Julie Meynen joined the Canadian team "Toronto Titans" and will compete again in the fifth preliminary round match next weekend.
