UNA Strassen & Atert Bissen End Their UEFA Conference League Campaigns

On Thursday 30 July 2026, Luxembourg champions FC Atert Bissen and UNA Strassen lost their second-leg matches in the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round.

Following a 4-0 away defeat to FK Partizan Belgrade in the first leg, UNA Strassen hosted the return match at the Stade de Luxembourg in front of 2,283 spectators. Compared with the first meeting, Head Coach Jérémy Deichelbohrer made two changes to his starting line-up, with Amine Zenadji and Lamine Toure replacing Edis Agovic and Babou Seye.

A sizeable contingent of FK Partizan supporters made the trip to Luxembourg, with temporary metal fencing installed around the away sections to separate them from the home crowd.

Following a cautious opening ten minutes with few chances at either end, UNA Strassen created the first real opportunity of the match in the twelfth minute. Nicolas Perez found space inside the penalty area but fired narrowly wide from close range. 

Four minutes later, the home team appealed for a penalty after Omar Natami went down under pressure from a defender, although Northern Irish referee Ben McMaster waved play on.

Partizan gradually began to enjoy more possession but struggled to test Koray Özcan. Chaka Traore threatened in the 21st minute, breaking into the penalty area before being dispossessed by Galaye Gueye. Nicolas Perez then came close in the 33rd minute, but goalkeeper Miloš Krunić rushed off his line to deny the Strassen captain. Four minutes later, Omar Natami was unable to control the ball after Partizan lost possession just outside their own penalty area, allowing another promising opportunity to slip away. 

The visitors thought they had taken the lead in the 42nd minute, but their goal from a free-kick was ruled out for offside. Although Partizan finished the half with greater territorial control, neither team managed to find the breakthrough before the interval.

Partizan needed only moments after the restart to open the scoring. Chaka Traore advanced down the left before cutting the ball back for Bogdan Kostić, who finished first time from around ten metres to make it 1-0. Aleks Zeković nearly doubled the visitors' advantage in the 55th minute, but failed to hit the target after a defensive mistake by the hosts.

UNA Strassen pushed for an equaliser and created another chance in the 67th minute, when Omar Natami raced onto a through ball only to be beaten to it by Miloš Krunić. 

Three minutes later, Koray Özcan produced an important save to deny substitute Matija Ninić in a one-on-one situation. The hosts responded immediately, with Galaye Gueye heading Amine Zenadji's cross against the post in the 73rd minute.

Strassen continued to press during the closing stages. Substitute Matheus De Souza headed wide from Valentin Steinmetz's corner in the 87th minute, while Vukašin Đurđević saw his effort from the edge of the penalty area deflected behind a minute later. 

Deep into stoppage time, Valentin Steinmetz delivered a dangerous free-kick after Matheus De Souza had won a foul near the left edge of the penalty area, but the move was halted for offside. Partizan secured a 1-0 victory on the night and progressed with a 5-0 aggregate win.

Atert Bissen also exited the competition but ended their European campaign with a 1-1 away draw against Hungary's Győri ETO FC after losing the first leg 6-2 at home. 

Pedro Garcia's team took the lead in the 28th minute through Roman Ferber, but their task became considerably more difficult three minutes later when Toufik Zeghdane was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge.

Győri ETO had the opportunity to equalise early in the second half after being awarded a penalty, but Viktor Đukanović missed from the spot in the 50th minute. 

The Hungarian team were awarded a second penalty in the 76th minute, however, and this time Miljan Krpić converted to level the match at 1-1. Bissen continued to threaten in the closing stages but were unable to find a late winner.

With the defeats, Luxembourg's representatives have completed their UEFA Conference League campaigns. Attention now turns to domestic football, with the new BGL Ligue season set to begin on Sunday 2 August 2026.
