Up Luxembourg, a digital meal voucher provider, has announced a strategic partnership with the Cactus group, a frontrunner in mass distribution in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
After announcing its launch in June 2023, Up Luxembourg, the brand name of Monizze, Belgian company of fintech and HRTech, announced the activation of its digital meal voucher service in all points of sale of the Cactus group in Luxembourg from December (deployment in progress).
Created in June 2023 and having entered production in September 2023, Up Luxembourg is now entering the market by signing a strategic partnership with Cactus, a Luxembourg supermarket brand with a sales network bringing together various store formats which are distributed throughout the country.
The arrival of Up Luxembourg opened the meal voucher market to competition, the group noted. In addition, Up Luxembourg aims to position itself as a partner rather than a service provider. By offering advisory support in this transition, Up Luxembourg expressed its commitment to supporting supermarkets, such as Cactus, in their transition to the digitalisation of meal vouchers. The technical changes brought about by this transformation, such as the automatic sorting of food and non-food products at the checkout, as well as the automatic identification of the card, are challenges to which Up Luxembourg aims to provide solutions.
Up Luxembourg reported it is committed to offering a quality service, combining innovation and support, to meet the evolving needs of the extra-legal benefits market. Collaboration with Cactus marked the start of a new era for the meal voucher provider, Up Luxembourg noted.
Gilles Feipel, Marketing Director of Cactus SA, said: “At Cactus, Up Luxembourg does not simply represent a supplier offering an additional means of payment, but a committed partner sharing a common vision: that of the best customer service consistent with our value ‘Fir Iech do’ [there for you]! This carefully crafted collaboration integrates elements such as innovation, proximity and efficiency and we see this partnership as a very attractive payment option for our joint customers."
Alicia Brun, Country Manager of Up Luxembourg, highlighted the importance of this partnership: “With the support of CACTUS, we are calmly tackling the major challenges of the coming months, namely convincing human resources managers that there is a third way to better manage their extra-legal benefits. Cactus’ support marks a new era of meal vouchers for and with merchants.”
Up Luxembourg later confirmed that it is in a pilot phase until January with Luxembourg-based merchants and restaurants such as Cocottes, Auchan, Colruyt, Cactus, McDonald's, Paname, Bazaar, Amore and many others. At the end of January, Up Luxembourg plans to roll out its VISA-Up card, thereby granting access to its entire network within the food sector.
