The Luxembourg Government has reported that the Government Council (Chamber) discussed the situation of ArcelorMittal at its morning session on Friday 13 February 2026.
According to the government, since October 2025, discussions have been taking place within the framework of the Tripartite Steel Coordination Committee – an institutionalised instrument of social dialogue – between company management, trade unions and government representatives. In line with their ministerial responsibilities, the Luxembourg Ministers for Labour and the Economy are taking part in these discussions on behalf of the Government and reporting back to the Government Council.
The Government Council has stated this model will continue to be maintained.
Moreover, during his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Prime Minister Luc Frieden, in a brief exchange with Aditya Mittal, advocated against any relocation, emphasising that ArcelorMittal’s headquarters should remain in Luxembourg and that investment in Luxembourg sites should remain at a high level.
