Auchan has recalled a frozen parsley product from its Luxembourg stores due to the presence of VTECs (Escherichia coli producing verotoxins).

Auchan and the European Commission's rapid alert system for foodstuffs have informed the Luxembourg food safety authorities of the recall of the following product: Iglo brand Tiefgefrorene Petersilie, 40g, originating from Germany. The affected product has the expiry date 31/12/2019 and batch number L8346BR005.

The product in question has since been withdrawn from Auchan stores in Luxembourg but some of the inventory was sold in Auchan Kirchberg, Massen Wemperhardt and probably in other retail stores.

Health problems can occur, especially when consuming this product in the raw form. Food poisoning caused by these bacteria may result in gastrointestinal disorders often accompanied by fever. These symptoms may be aggravated in young children, individuals with weak immune systems and the elderly. As such, the Luxembourg Food Safety Authorities have recommended that consumers no longer consume the product described above and return it to the point of sale.
