On Thursday 10 and Friday 11 July 2025, Luxembourg's Minister for Culture, Eric Thill, visited Avignon in France to support and promote Luxembourg's presence at the Avignon Festival, one of Europe's largest events dedicated to contemporary performing arts.

As reported by Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture, Minister Thill attended three productions by Luxembourg artists: Ce que j'appelle oubli, directed by Sophie Langevin; The Great Chevalier, a creation by Simone Mousset; and En Quête, directed by Fábio Godinho. The minister also attended the performance BREL by choreographer Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker.

On Thursday, Minister Thill attended a professional reception organised by Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg in partnership with the Performing Arts Program (PAP) Berlin. This meeting, which brought together several Luxembourg and international professionals, aimed to strengthen exchanges and cooperation opportunities for artists from the Grand Duchy. During the reception, Minister Thill stated: "The vitality of Luxembourg's performing arts is measured by their ability to engage with audiences and creators from around the world. Being in Avignon means offering our artists a platform of excellence and affirming the place of Luxembourg culture on the European map."

The visit was part of the Ministry of Culture's ongoing efforts to support the presence of Luxembourg artists on the international scene. The strategic support offered by Kultur | lx since 2023 in Avignon helps to further structure the dissemination and recognition of Luxembourg's independent scene abroad. The aim is to create sustainable conditions for artists to develop international careers while benefiting from a solid foothold in Luxembourg.
